down with the garden

our new home came with its very own garden... a garden that has not been used in what seems like years. it's unkempt, rundown, and an eyesore. furthermore, i don't have a green thumb, so i wanted it gone! instead, we're putting up a shed in the corner.

so, last weekend, we demolished it! the backyard looks so much bigger now that the fence is gone. the demo took about a 1-2 hours to remove the picket fence, iron gate entrance, remove garden bed wood frames and cut long pieces down to a size that will fit in the large trash bin we rented.

on day 2, the mister started without me while i went to the gym for a grueling 2hr workout at spin and bodpump. by the time i arrived home, he had finished raking and shoveling the grass to clear a 10x8' foundation for the shed. he cut the wood down to frame the foundation and flattened the soil. for the foundation, we bought about 30 50lbs bags of gravel... and he carried them from the driveway to the backyard... by himself! what a strong man! ;-) i helped too! i opened all the bags of gravel and poured them onto the foundation area. {50lb bags seem much heavier after your legs and arms have turned to jello from spin class and bodypump!} we spread them around evenly, then flattened them in place.

we're finishing up this weekend by putting the shed together and tidying up. i can't wait! keep ya posted! :)
